‘You can fly planes’: The students who are inspiring younger siblings
This article about how younger people can be inspired by the success of their older siblings in attending universities is very interesting and inspirational. It also strikes very close to my own heart. I am the youngest of seven children and was the first of my siblings to attend university. My family grew up in rural Australia from working class origins.
I have since then found some of my nieces and nephews have commented to me how my story and success helped inspire them to finish school and attend university.
Anything that can help keep young people from disadvantaged backgrounds at school longer and increase their university participation rate is a great thing in my view.
