Women gain higher earnings from degrees
A recent study from the UK Department of Education and Institute of Fiscal Studies found that women are much more likely than men to enjoy an increase in earnings from going to university. The research shows that in the UK women with degrees on average earn 28% more than those without, while men with degrees only see on average an 8% increase over non graduates.
These figures are for the UK and one can wonder if similar differentials are present in Hong Kong. There is also some discussion as to the reason for the difference, maybe in part due to the types of courses males and females choose to study at university.
