Hi! I’m Izzy and I am a third year Business Administration student at the University of Bath. At secondary school I developed a passion for Economics which I studied at A level and have since been studying at university as part of my business degree.
A large part of my initial interest in the subject was inspired by my teacher who was great at explaining concepts as well as creating a fun learning environment. I would hope to be able to recreate this with my students. In school I was very shy and so I’d love to help students feel comfortable asking questions that they may not want to ask in the classroom environment (no questions are stupid questions!!) in order to get the best out of their learning in the subject. In my second year at university I completed a professional placement in which I worked in the PR department at Wessex Water. As part of my job I helped train employees from all over the company and so I feel that I have the experience and skills to be able to tutor successfully.
In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with friends as well as going to the gym or swimming. Throughout A levels I competed nationally at swimming and so I can appreciate students having to juggle their education and hobbies!
Before the lesson I will read over and make notes on the content that you would like to go through to ensure I know exactly what the exam will require from you.
I am happy to go over any areas that you would like help with and we will discuss these prior to the lesson so that I am prepared enough to give you the best experience! I want my lessons to be fun and helpful. I’d like the relationship to feel more of a peer-to-peer support rather than student-to-teacher as I’d like my student to not be afraid to ask any questions or be honest when they dont fully understand a concept. I’m a very patient person and understand that economics can be hard, especially when a student is learning it for the first time alongside other A levels!
I am a visual person who likes to make notes and so I will hopefully be using my tablet in sessions allowing me to draw graphs or scribble where necessary. I am also happy to send any notes I have made to the student after each session. If you think I could be the right tutor for you, send me a message and we can arrange a meeting :).
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
