Hey its Belinda! I am an economics undergraduate at the London School of Economics. Economics is a fascinating subject, and my interest has largely stemmed from studying it during sixth form, as well as reading books around the subject. Naturally, in combination with my passion for economics is a love for maths, as these two subjects go hand-in-hand.
I have had some experience tutoring students through peer mentoring at school, and discovered that I enjoy it. Not only does tutoring allow me to share my interest and knowledge with other students, but it also gives me great pleasure when you can see people have a ‘light bulb’ moment and they finally understand a topic/section of the work. I took the Cambridge Pre-U examination board, and studied Economics, Maths, Further Maths and Geography.
So despite the fact that this is a less well-known qualification, it covers the majority of the standard A-level as well as a bit beyond that.
During my sessions, I plan to make an entirely personal tutoring scheme. Some people learn through examples, some through explanations and others through notes and so forth.
I want to make the sessions as personal as I can to allow you to gain the full benefits of this tutoring scheme. I will ensure that all tutorials are planned or laid out in the manner that suits you best. I aim to be fully equipped with the syllabus and content that you are doing. I find it to be the best method of learning is to be fully engaged with the subject, so I want to create a discussion, go through examples and have a visual representation of the content that we are covering.
I am able to access GCSE and A-level resources to use for the lessons, as well as past papers to use as examples or as practice. I hope that I am able to make the tutorials interesting and engaging, and ensuring that you fully understand the content by the end of a session or two!
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
