Hi! I am a recent Biology graduate from the University of Bath. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my degree and hope to share this enthusiasm with my students. Prior to joining MyTutor, I’ve had several years experience in tutoring A Level Biology as well as GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and as a recent student myself, am more than familiar with the process of university applications and sitting exams.
Lessons will be tailored to the individual student (the entire point of one-on-one tutoring!) and what they need, whether that be consolidating core material to more rigorous exam-style preparation. Prior to each lesson, I like to establish a clear plan for what will be covered, for example, focusing on challenging topics or dissecting past paper questions. Discussing your goals beforehand (through messaging or a Meet the Tutor session) allows me to prepare the appropriate materials and resources to make the most of each session. I like to ask questions throughout each session and find this is the best way to expose and tackle points of misunderstanding as they arise, as well as allowing students to be more engaged with the content, especially when being introduced to brand new concepts. As students become more familiar and confident with a topic, we can then work on exam-style questions. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to message me or book a Meet the Tutor session.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
