Hi there, my name is Zoe. I am currently in my third year of Psychology at The University of Exeter. I have a great interest and passion for Psychology which has grown as I have had the chance to learn more about fantastic theories and findings within the subject, while also getting to participate in, and conduct research. Since Psychology is such a broad science, the topics I cover during my degree involve a lot of basics covered by A Level Psychology and Biology. This means I have a great understanding of the concepts I teach, which I am then able to transfer to my students. I have experience teaching Biology OCR/Edexcel/AQA and Psychology AQA.
I have been tutoring A-Level Psychology and Biology on MyTutor for over two years now. Having only recently left secondary education, I understand the pressures put upon students to achieve high grades, and that at times this means working your way through large amounts of confusing content that may not be covered well during lessons. In these sessions I aim to help you grasp different concepts by using using a mixture of real life examples, diagrams, and notes.
I also offer advice on exam technique including how to split your time, how to format an essay, and how much content to include for different question styles. This is worked on using past paper questions from the exam board you are studying. I have found from experience using exam questions to finish the session helps students to consolidate the content covered during the hour.
Most of all, these sessions will be used to help you, so whatever you are finding difficult is what our session will be based around. There isnt any point going over content you already understand! I also offer written sessions where a student can complete a paper or a set of questions. These get sent to me to mark thoroughly and to provide tips for improvement in different areas. I find its best to use these sessions along side usual online lessons to ensure the student is fully understanding the material, and is able to use the exam techniques we have covered by themselves.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
