I am a medical student at Bristol University and absolutely love it. I decided to study medicine because I find medical sciences so interesting, but I wanted my career to be centred around people – so I thought medicine was the perfect option. I have been tutoring for over 2 years now, and find it really rewarding. It is so nice to see the improvement students make in ability, as well as in confidence to have a go without worrying about getting something wrong. When I’m not working, I enjoy playing the piano, as well as yoga and running.
Using my experience of taking exams and revising, I have developed a style of teaching that I feel is highly effective at developing subject understanding and exam technique. I deliver lessons tailored to the specification with exam questions integrated in to maintain focus throughout the session. I will send any resources/notes used after the session, as well as optional exam questions, to help with further independent study. I always allow for time to clear up any misunderstandings from the previous session or the questions given. I am very flexible to the student, and will adapt my teaching style to suit all individuals.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
