About me

Hello! I am a Natural Sciences Master’s student at Trinity College, University of Cambridge, specialising in Chemistry. I have a strong background in Maths and Physics, having studied both in my first/second year of university, and have experience at tutoring A level for the past five years.


Many students (including myself in the past) spend many hours revising without much improvement due to less effective revision methods. I aim to employ scientifically proven study techniques (emphasising active recall and spaced repetition) in my teaching style to help students achieve their true potential. I focus on understanding over memorisation as I believe enjoyment of a subject can be achieved through a deep understanding and ability of a student to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations.


I understand exams can be stressful for many students, and revision of less familiar topics can feel daunting, but I believe the correct approach to learning, revising and exam technique can change your whole outlook on a subject. I am able to communicate scientific and mathematical ideas to a student in a way that suits them, so they can succeed in their studies. Having scored highly in my entrance interview to Cambridge, I am also capable of working with Oxbridge applicants for personal statements, entrance exams and interview technique.

About my sessions

A Strong Foundation Particularly in the sciences, learning new ideas requires a solid understanding of the underlying concepts. I strive to ensure knowledge of the basics as these are required in order to grasp more complicated ideas.


Having studied chemistry at university for 3 years, I have deep understanding and can explain concepts in ways which have worked for myself and others. Scientifically Proven Techniques Despite extensive research into learning and memory techniques, most students aren’t taught how to learn effectively and tend to fall back on revision methods that don’t lead to better results. I teach how to learn and revise, so as not to waste many hours on less impactful strategies.


A Tailored Approach I aim to match my tutoring style to individual student’s needs. My tutoring experience has taught me how best to describe complex concepts, and to ensure ideas have been fully appreciated. At times I may ask questions slightly beyond the course to further develop knowledge, but always try to make my lessons fun and engaging!  A Head Start I am happy to teach content not yet covered, in order to help get ahead. This can include topics in the syllabus or in preparation for university. Oxbridge Interviews I am happy to provide mock interviews, discuss applications, or give feedback on writing personal statements.

Personally interviewed

We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
