Hi, I’m Jane! I’m a second year medical student at Trinity College, Cambridge.
My course requires me to have a strong foundation in all the sciences and maths as we use concepts we learnt from GCSE and A Level on a day to day basis. Because of this, I feel very confident I can tutor these subjects to a high standard. I was also in the first cohort to sit the new A levels after the courses and exam sturctures changed, so I will be able to provide the most accurate and up to date advice.
As part of the application process for medical school, I also sat the BMAT exam, scoring 8.5 in Section 1 and 7.1 in Section 2. This is something I also feel very confident in teaching. I thoroughly enjoy being able to explain scientific concepts to others, and I find it extremely gratifying to be a part of helping students realise their goals.
My lessons will consist of: understanding your needs as a student – all students have different abilities and learn in different ways so I am committed to ensuring I can tailor indivisualised sessions to meet your demands, whether that’s reaching your target grades or teaching in a style that suits you. Whatever you need, I will try to deliver. having a structure and goals – no one wants to pay for a waste of time. I will make sure that the sessions are focused to achieve specific goals each session whilst also having a long term plan to reach your desired long-term goals being friendly and interactive – I don’t want to just talk at you for an hour as you may have in your school lessons, I want this to be your time to develop your understanding and feel confortable enough to ask any questions you may not have the confidence to ask in class. No question is a stupid question here!
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
