I am a second-year Chemical Engineering student at UCL. My degree allows me to explore a practical use of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics: the subjects I enjoyed studying as my A-levels. In my first year at university, I achieved a high first (80%) and ranked 1st in my year in a few modules out of 130 students.
I took Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Polish at A-level. I also self-thought myself a few Further Mathematics modules in which I scored above 90% (an equivalent to an A*). I was accepted by all 5 universities I had applied to (which included passing entrance exams and interviews).
I am passionate about handball and dancing. I am also active in university societies and have been elected as part of the committee for the UCL Engineering Society.
The structure of the session is highly adaptable to each student. Each session will include both teaching the content as well as checking the understanding using various examples. I normally set homework which checks the understanding and allows me to identify weak points that need to be worked on.
I also place focus on mastering the exam technique to ensure that the knowledge gained is shown in exams. Science subjects rely heavily on practicals and structuring them, and I also provide students with resources needed to develop their practical skills and the understanding how to design practicals.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
