I am currently a third-year undergraduate at the University of Oxford studying Spanish and Linguistics.
I’ve always harboured a love for learning and I really enjoy instilling that passion in others. Furthermore, I understand the importance of varied and innovative teaching approaches and learning techniques and apply these to my tutorials in order to enable each of my students to perform at their highest level. I would love to pass on my zest for learning and enable students to fulfil their true potential.
I have previously acted as a Spanish, Latin and Ancient Greek tutor at my secondary school, as well as teaching Speech and Drama to children from the age of 7 to 13; both were incredibly rewarding experiences and equipped me with a wide breadth of teaching experience.
My experiences with teaching have allowed me to engage my students in a highly interactive and engaging learning environment, giving them the support and encouragement needed to fulfil their potential.
After getting to know each other in a free 15 minute session, I will strive to ascertain my student’s current level in the relevant subject, their preferred learning approaches and the areas in which they struggle.
During the tutorial, I will ensure that my approach is entirely tailored to the student’s learning preferences, whilst maintaining a strong focus on content, in order to make the lesson both enjoyable and informative.
At the end of each tutorial, I will send a short feedback statement to both the student and parent, containing the positives of the lesson and areas for improvement which will be worked on in the following tutorial, as well as suggestions for independent work the student could be doing to maximise their success.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
