Hello! My name is Daniel Chang and I have just completed my second year studying MEng (Master’s in Engineering) in Chemical Engineering with Pharmaceutical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. I am passionate about my subject at it tackles extremely challenging world needs head on, such as delivering sustainable food production and producing pharmaceutical products efficiently.
Furthermore, Chemical Engineering heavily utilises Mathematics to solve real world problems; examples include mathematical modelling of tanks and using statistics to compare two samples. Success in A-Level and GCSE Mathematics requires solid understanding of topics covered and being able to solve challenging questions.
I will focus my lessons on the specific topics and questions that my students struggle with, and work through them with them logically and methodically at a manageable pace. My aim is to aid their learning development by being patient and supportive, and I believe through hard work, determination and patience, anyone can get a good grade in Mathematics.
I would like my students to present to me specific questions/areas that they do not understand to each session, and will work flexibly depending on the student’s needs: I will go through the question with them, giving prompts to help them answer the question correctly. For an area, I will go through the relevant specification key points to check understanding, complete a few examples, then provide them with questions to attempt.
Once the question is completed, the student and I will work through a series of questions together. · I will then work through one question, to provide them with a “model answer”.
At the end of the lesson, I will recap any key points, and if possible, provide further questions for them to take back as homework. (I will get the student to recall the key points in the next lesson).
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
