Hello, My name is Matt. I’m in my final year of university studying Biology at the University of Oxford. I always had an interest in science and maths at school and still enjoy the subject at university. My course has a lot of variety and I can cover most areas of biology and chemistry with confidence. Having said that, I’m particularly interested in molecular biology and biochemistry and hope to start a PhD in that area next year. I started off tutoring by independently organising tutorials with GCSE and A-level students in both Biology and Chemistry. As someone who completed my A-levels quite recently, I understand the difficulties students face. My tutorials are friendly, relaxed and go at the pace of the student. If they are struggling with a topic they’ve learned about in school, we would generally have a discussion about the topic, going through it step-by-step until they feel confident explaining it.
In later tutorials, we can practice answers to exam questions and go through past papers. This helps to cement your knowledge and practicing answers that gain maximum marks. If students would like to go beyond the syllabus or cover new topics, I would be happy to accommodate that.
