I am a 27 year old soon-to-become Dr. in Aerospace Engineering, I have done over 750 hours of teaching, and I also work as a Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering in Coventry University. I am open minded, easy to talk to, and I also work as a part time close up magician. Needless to say, there are only a few things in life I love more than teaching. I became passionate about Mathematics and Physics in my early days of high school which I did back home in Romania. This allowed me to start winning various prizes in national and international Olympiads and competitions. Afterwards, I was accepted at University of Southampton in order to study an MEng programme (Master in Engineering) in Aeronautics and Astronautics. Not only did I finish it with a first class degree, but I also obtained Dean’s Award for the “Best Final Year MEng Student”. I then started doing a PhD at University of Southampton (due to finish at the end of this year), during which I also worked with Rolls-Royce plc. I am a very sociable person as a direct consequence of the people I worked with and also due to my hobby of performing close up magic as well as being in the University’s table tennis team.
My lessons will be structured by allowing lots of time for the student to ask questions to help the learning process. I will also end every lesson with a useful task/question for the student to answer to help consolidate their understanding prior to the next lesson. I hope progress will become apparent, but I think regular mini tests are also important to ensure understanding and help show areas that can be improved upon. Allowing the student to go over material in their own time after the lesson I believe is key for them to develop a solid understanding of the subject.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
