I love to teach. Having attained 5A*s and 2As at A Level from Harrow School and a distinction in my first year of undergraduate Engineering Science at Magdalen College, Oxford, it delights me to be able to share what I have learnt.
When I tutor, I like to lead my students through a clear explanation by asking them questions which get them to think through the concept themselves. This approach allows me to understand the way my students think and so I can tailor my explanations to what would be most effective for you the student. This approach allows me to be an efficient tutor for all abilities.
I have tutored Oxbridge applicants in Shanghai, teaching fluid dynamics with XueTong Education; and I have also tutored basic mathematics at the local comprehensive school for students struggling with their A Levels. And so, I look forward to getting to know you and for you to get to know me. I have no doubt that we will have a lot of fun together and enjoy growing and developing our academic pursuits.
My lessons will be structured by allowing lots of time for the student to ask questions to help the learning process. I will also end every lesson with a useful task/question for the student to answer to help consolidate their understanding prior to the next lesson. I hope progress will become apparent, but I think regular mini tests are also important to ensure understanding and help show areas that can be improved upon. Allowing the student to go over material in their own time after the lesson I believe is key for them to develop a solid understanding of the subject.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
