I am currently a Fourth-year Biochemistry DPhil (PhD) student at the University of Oxford working on a project involving influenza virus A, commonly known as the flu. I have always been passionate about understanding how cells in the human body function at the molecular level and wanted to contribute further in the field of virology.
I оffer pаtient, inspiring, аnd prоfessiоnаl teаching which encоurаges аn аppetite fоr leаrning, deep subject understаnding, аnd the develоpment оf independent study skills, аll with а flexible аpprоаch аttentive tо the needs оf eаch individuаl. During my undergraduates, I offered tuition and academic mentoring purely based on volunteering work. I also helped with pupils homework at Response Homework Club, London for a year.
Currently, I tutor via a tutoring agency as well as providing private tutoring for pupils at Oxford and London. I am also currently a tutor for the Biochemistry Undergraduates at the University of Oxford during term time where I provide tutorial and practical classes. I know the materials that are taught in the biochemistry course at Oxford and understand the types of student that Oxford looks for in a student to be successful in taking this course. I have tutored pupils in a range of levels – from the Common Entrance Exams to A Levels in Maths, Chemistry, and Biology as well as preparation for Oxbridge Biochemistry interviews. I provide coaching for students applying for the Biochemistry undergraduate course at the University of Oxford with the following services:- 1) Practice interview questions and how to tackle them 2) Proofread and reviewing personal statements 3) Providing materials in preparation for interviews Below are some of the reviews for my tutoring services:- “I’ve had Faiz as my chemistry tutor for over six months.
He has really helped me understand and overcome my problems and worries regarding the subject throughout our time together. For me, his teaching was very effective and I left each session feeling more confident and ready to practice questions on my own which I could then get feedback on in the next session. He also helped me plan my revision schedule which gave me a sound piece of mind when it came to the exam season as I knew how to revise effectively.
Faiz has been a really good tutor I would highly recommend him.” “I would highly recommend Faiz without hesitation; he was able to engage Lucas, a child who can find it difficult to focus – every single day, to the point that Lucas wanted to go to his sessions, even when they took place after an already long school day. Faiz is personable, always reliable, professional, flexible and a conscientious tutor. I think Faiz is an outstanding tutor, his skills would benefit children of all ages, from primary school children right up to students taking their A-levels.”
My lessons will be structured by allowing lots of time for the student to ask questions to help the learning process. I will also end every lesson with a useful task/question for the student to answer to help consolidate their understanding prior to the next lesson. I hope progress will become apparent, but I think regular mini tests are also important to ensure understanding and help show areas that can be improved upon. Allowing the student to go over material in their own time after the lesson I believe is key for them to develop a solid understanding of the subject.
We only take tutor applications from candidates who are studying at the UK’s leading universities. Candidates who fulfil our grade criteria then pass to the interview stage, where a member of the TiC team will personally assess them for subject knowledge, communication skills and general tutoring approach. About 1 in 10 becomes a tutor on our site.
