The benefits of learning a language as an adult

The prevailing wisdom has long been that it is much easier to learn a foreign language when young; however research suggests that learning a language as an adult is not as difficult as it has been made out to be.

There are benefits to learning a language at every stage of life, and in some ways, adults are better equipped than children for certain aspects of language acquisition.

Interestingly enough, other social factors (such as teaching methods) seem to be as important as age in successfully learning a new language.
