Obesity: how to help your child eat healthily
Leeds in the UK has managed to reduce child obesity rates by over six percent.
A key part of the city’s strategy for tackling obesity was a focus on pre-school children and offering parents classes in how to encourage their children to be healthy.
It recommends giving children choice between healthy options, which helps the children feel that they are in control. A further suggestion is making sure you include something a child likes around the healthy food.
The overall advice is to develop good eating habits at a very young age and this will help avoid obesity later in the child’s life.
Obesity among the young is also a growing problem in Hong Kong and some of the suggestions given here can easily be applied by Hong Kong parents.
