Legal action planned over tests in England for four-year-olds

While here in Hong Kong the idea of very young children having to do a school interview or engage in some form of assessment is standard procedure; it may come as a surprise that there is a plan to introduce a new “baseline” test for four-year-olds in England.

Parents are planning a protest and legal action against the tests, saying that the test results would be unreliable, be disruptive for students in the very beginning of their school days, and have too much of a focus on maths and literacy rather than overall development.
