It is not just soda but also fruit juices hurting children’s health
Most of us are now aware that sugary soda drinks are bad for our children’s health but this recent finding from the journal “Jama Network Open” finds that sugary fruit juices are also dangerous for young people’s health.
According to the study, “Specifically, drinking an excessive amount of fruit juice could lead to an increased risk of premature death ranging from 9% to 42%.”
The experts quoted said that “Although fruit juices may not be as deleterious as sugar-sweetened beverages, their consumption should be moderated in children and adults, especially for individuals who wish to control their body weight.”
The recommendations for kids between one and six years old are to limit fruit juice consumption to six ounces per day, while children seven years and older, teens and adults should limit fruit juice to eight ounces per day, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Dietary Guidelines.
