Is university the only path to a decent job?

The Education Secretary of the UK, Damien Hinds, recently described the British as a nation of “technical education snobs,” who refuse to believe that a vocational education could lead to a good career. Germany, on the other hand, has long embraced vocational training routes (called the “dual-training route), with approximately half of young people choosing this route.

A very interesting transcript of a discussion series on this topic between the president of Germany’s Hamburg University of Technology, and the vice-chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire is available at The Guardian.
