1,600 take part in concerts for Asia Pacific Choral Summit that seek to eliminate school rivalries and promote shared learning
Hong Kong has just hosted on of its biggest choral events of its kind. The inaugural Asia Pacific Choral Summit aimed to cultivate a new generation of young choristers in the region, and saw the Asia Pacific Youth Choir (APYC) perform together with the Hong Kong Children’s Choir for the first time.
Organised by HKCC, in collaboration with the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM), the summit commemorated the group’s 50th anniversary. The event featured 20 workshops from elite choirs based locally and overseas, and also held six concerts performed by more than 10 choirs from Hong Kong, including the Asia Pacific Youth Choir and Diocesan Girls’ Junior School Choir.
The young Hong Kongers had to sing songs in various languages they are not familiar with, namely Tagalog, Japanese, Korean and Bahasa Indonesian.
Congratulations to all those who organized and participated in this event.
